8/08 Just returned from our family trip to Negril where we stayed at Beaches Sandy Bay. There were 4 of us (including two teenagers) in our Deluxe Oceanview room so it was crowded at night but like most people say you're only there to sleep . I think the overall cost is a little pricey but the "all inclusive" makes it very easy on meals and drinks which we definitely took advantage of. I thought the food was above average having a fresh omelet every morning along with anything else I wanted such as pancakes, french toast, fruit, etc. We usually hit the snack shack for lunch for jerk chicken or some other fast food which was decent. Had dinner at both the Carribean and Italian restaurants which was also very nice. I was disappointed we were not able to book the Japanese restaurant at Beaches Negril even though I tried from the day we arrived. Regular dinner was buffet style which offered a large selection and most of it was pretty decent. Beaches Negril was very crowded when we checked it out. It had a huge swimmimg pool with a swim up bar but I found the conditions overall to be poor. Beaches Negril is definetly geared towards little kids and there were quite a few running around. Spent some time at Margaritaville and took a trip on the Riverwalk which was also a bit pricey but it gave us a chance to check out the countryside including some nice falls, swimming through a small underwater cave and just relaxing under cool rushing water! I can go on and on but in summary it was an excellent trip. Just a warning, there were topless bathers everyday on the beach right in front of the resort and the glass bottom boat ride we took went right by Hedonism where everyone was totally nude! Anyway, enjoy it if you go. We did! Sue, MI

4/08 We had a wonderful week on a beautiful stretch of Negril Beach (one of the best beaches on the 7 mile strip). The grounds are just beautiful and the rooms sport an excellent view of the beach. It is definitely a family-oriented resort, and while not as big as the sister property a mile down the beach, Beaches Negril, it is nice for those who wish a little less noise and just want to chill out. The only real dissapointment for us was the quality of the food. The reservation-only Italian restaraunt was very poor and the dinner menu at the buffet restaraunt lacked any evidence of planning. This was odd, because the food at Beaches Negril, where we ate often, was consistently quite good (especially the Seville!). If it weren't for a free transfer policy between the two resorts, I think we would not have had such a good time. FC, FL

3/08 If you are looking for a great family oriented vacation spot, Sandy Bay is the place! I was very impressed with the resort. It's clean and safe! The food is good and the beach is beautiful. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. If you have kids, get them involved in Kids Camp as soon as you arrive, they will love it. The counselors love the kids and keep them busy and happy. As far as the food, the buffet has something for everyone. Try the Sundowner restaurant, which I felt is much better than the Italian one. Make sure to eat at the grill by the pool. They make great Jerk Chicken! If you are looking for a 5 Star Resort, don't stay here. This is a fun, clean, and safe family oriented place at a good price! Couples should stay at Sandals, which is a hundred yards down the beach. Kathy, NV

2/08 My family went (two 12 yos and an 8 yo girls) to Sandy Bay. It wasn't crowded at all. The food at the restaurants was excellent, the buffet typical. The snack shop was excellent, try the jerk burger. The people there were wonderful and if you aren't used to being attended to, you might even get sick of saying "No thanks, everything is great." The room was fine, no bugs, comfy beds, good air conditioner. The walls were thin, you can hear everything outside, but it was never a problem for us. The crickets were irritating though! The entertainment was good. Everything except the bar is closed by 11pm and it's quiet after that. Typical music you'd expect in the Caribbean. Some nights a band, some night local dancers, a fire dancer, etc. The kids had a great time. We let the older girls have the run of the place and they just came and went as they pleased. The younger spent most of the time in the pool or ocean. We took the snorkeling trip and it was fun. I recommend it. We took the shuttle over to Beaches Negril twice to swim and use their water park. The kids liked it. I liked the swim up bars. But I would have been perfectly content staying at Sandy Bay. There is so much I can say about this place, and it's people, all of it good! We really loved Jamaica and already want to go back! Eric, IL
