REVIEWS 2/09 We traveled to the El Dorado Royale as a group of ten. We were amazed from the moment we arrived. The resort itself has beautiful landscaping and a very relaxing vibe. My husband and I chose to stay in the garden view rooms which were still amazing. I loved the hammock on my balcony and we found the bed to be very comfortable. Some people have complained that the beds are hard, but we slept like babies. The food here was extra good in my opinion. We loved to eat at Jo Jos for lunch- they had a wonderful lunch selection and tasty. We also favored the night time steakhouse which I think was La Isla, but I can't remember. The food there was also outstanding. My husband and I loved the Italian restaurant, but some other members in our group were not as impressed. We also enjoyed the beach. My husband snorkeled on site for hours a day. He did bring his own snorkel gear though - the gear they have is checked out a lot and not very good quality. One of our favorite things to do as a group was go to the swing bar at night. After the shows there is a live band and then dj. We absolutely loved it and went every single night- danced the night away. Overall, our experience was great with nothing negative to say. I would recommend this resort! Deb, MI ********* 1/09 Me, my fiancé and another couple stayed at the El Dorado Royal in January, 2009. What an awesome resort! All of us were totally impressed & will definitely go back. The staff were all friendly & helpful, the food was phenomenal & the rooms were spacious & clean. The pools weren't crowded & neither were the bars. The beach was great, especially the sand bags that sheltered us from the big waves. There was a wide variety of cuisines offered at the different restaurants & all the food was really good. All in all, we had a wonderful vacation experience at the El Dorado Royale & I'd recommend it to anyone. Jennie, MI ************ 1/09 We stayed at this resort in January, '09 and it was a great relaxing week. We were a little hesitant because of some of the reviews but we only had one complaint the whole week. If you stay in building 16 beware of the empty space below that is used for parties, it can be very loud. We only had to hear this for one night so it was not that bad. The beaches are rocky but real beaches are, so pack beach shoes this will eliminate and problems with the rocks. This resort really makes you feel like no other resort. If you are looking for a party place this is not the resort for you, it is very low key but their service is top notch. We had the best service at every resturant we ate at (we did not get to all of them) and the food was 5 star. We will be visiting this resort again. Niether my husband or I like to stay at resorts where everyone is on top of everyone and this resort was what we were looking for. The pictures do not do it justice. Our room was always clean. The resort is very well kept. The casitas are the way to go, on our next trip we will be booking one of those with the infinity pool. When I asked for an upgrade, even offering to pay for the upgrade, they put me off, and they were not full.. We are already looking for a time we can get back down there for another week.
