Moon Palace Wedding Reviews

REVIEWS

7/08 My family just got back from a fantastic vacation to the Moon Palace in Mexico. It was our first trip there and it far exceeded our expectations. We have two children ages 11 and 8. We could not have asked for a better location to meet all of our needs. The Moon Palace is a great resort for the adults and the kids. The Moon Palace is gorgeous, it is huge, it has incredible pools, a beautiful beach (a little seaweed, not bad), tons of restaurants with great food that even a picky child will find something they like! There are also plenty of kids club activities to keep the kids busy so my husband and I were able to have some quality alone time.

My kids said this was the best vacation they ever had. They loved traveling to another country but at the same time it was very easy. We used dollars and most everyone spoke English. The resort was very family friendly. We want to go back and try some of the other Palace Resorts for our vacation next year. Mary, Michigan

6/08 This property is massive in size. It has two sections, the Nizuc and the Sunrise. When I exited the cab the porter took my bags and directed me to the lobby for check-in. When I entered the lobby I was overwhelmed at its size. Lots of guests walking around but there was no confusion. At the check-in counter the clerk was very polite and explained how the property worked. Rooms were very nice with a jacuzzi in the room plus a big stand-up shower. The beach area was pretty big with palapas all around and lots of sand and very clean. The pool area was the biggest i've ever seen. It was never over crowded and very clean. There was food being served all over the place. And there were waitresses serving drinks by the pool and on the beach. The bottom line is that who ever designed the Moon Palace did it right. Would I stay at this property again? Yes.  Tom, NY

6/08 My family and I stayed at Moon Palace for my sister's wedding in June '08. We were very happy with our stay. This resort is HUGE!! My sister's wedding was beautiful. The staff really knows how to make the occasion special (however, the ceremony was pretty short). The resort had plenty of stuff to do. Make sure you take advantage of all the free things the hotel offers...Tour Tulum (Mayan Ruins...this is an ALL DAY TOUR), Wet'n'Wild (water park), snorkeling, disco lounge, and FREE CALLS TO THE U.S.!!!from your hotel room. The beach along the resort isn't fantastic, it has tons of seaweed and rock due to the recent hurricane. Not to worry, there are several Palace Resorts you can visit for free. There is a shuttle that runs twice a day from Moon Palace to 2 other Palaces in Cancun (about a 20 to 30 min shuttle ride). Make sure you wait for the shuttle if you plan on going to Cancun's main strip. A taxi, round trip, will cost you $50 without tip! Beach Palace (located in the heart of Cancun) has a gorgeous beach! And the all-inclusive package invloves all Palace Resorts so you can eat and drink for free at this hotel as well. Other than the free stuff, there is plenty of things to book at a extra cost. My husband and I booked the Lobster Dinner Boat our last night. This cost us nearly $200. It was romantic and the food was great (not sure if it was worth $200 but it's vacation, right?) We also booked 50 min full body massages at the Spa. This was WORTH EVERY PENNY!! This was $160 for both of us. The resturants to Moon Palace are great (especially the Brazilian Resturant for dinner). If your stay is longer than 4 days, the resturants can get a little old (they serve the same food everyday). Take the time to explore the resturants at both ends of the hotel. (Nizuc and Sunrise), as well as the other Palaces. The hotels rooms and views were amazing. The jacuzzi in the room is great! Overall, we loved our stay. This is very much a "family" resort. If you are a spring- breaker looking for good nightlife, this is not the place. The hotel dies around 11:00 pm. You have to hit the strip for any kind of after hours fun.

5/08 My husband and I just returned from a very relaxing trip to the Moon Palace. The Cancun airport was a little chaotic with long lines, but they went rather quickly. We had a nice bus ride to hotel and didn't know what to expect. The hotel was beautiful. Our room did smell musty and mildewy. It bothered my husband but I still slept great. The food was fabulous!!! We have eaten at many great restaurants and the food here compared closely to some of the best. I was looking forward to visiting the Mayan Ruins but learned they were 3.5 hours away - one way. The tours are included but with that kind of travel time I didn't want to spend a whole day traveling. We opted to sit by the pool or beach, eat and drink. The drinks were wonderful as well. The staff were the most amazing group of people. They were always smiling and couldn't do enough to help. I wish we had more wait staff in the states that took such pride in their work. Overall, a wonderful time. I can't wait to go back! Sue, Indiana

4/08 I have mixed reviews about the Moon Palace. The location is beautiful, but it is very isolated from the hotel zone and costs $20 or more to get to shopping. The resort provides transportation twice a day, but we had to get in line at least 30 minutes before the bus left in order to get a guaranteed spot. Who wants to wait in line on your vacation?

One of the main reasons we left the Moon Palace during the day was to try and find some of the Caribbean's famous bluish green water to look at while we were there. The Moon Palace appears to be surrounded by this type of water from all the pictures, but it is really quite far out and can't be seen from the beach . While we were there it was thick with seaweed at least thirty feet out and the water was too rough to ever go past that. If you want to be viewing this type of water, go to the Cancun or Beach Palace in the hotel zone, we went to both and they had great views of clear water from everywhere.

There was lots of pools at this hotel, far more than any other Palace resort in Cancun, but they were always packed. You had to get down the pool by 9:00AM in order to get a spot that would have some shade. People would just go down and reserve their spot with their towel and not come back for hours. It was frustrating walking all around the pool area just to find a place to sit.

The food was average in all the restaurants we ate at-buffet at Sunrise side, Mexican sit down at Nizuc side, Italian sit down at the golf course , and Chinese at Sunrise side, grills by the pool. The sit down restaurants are the most popular and in some places you had to arrive thirty minutes before they opened to get a table. We made the mistake of arriving fifteen minutes after opening and had to wait over an hour to be seated and we only had two of us. Those who came with a family had to be prepared for a 2-3 hour wait unless arriving well before the restaurant opened.

The staff at the hotel was overall very friendly. We did run into a problem trying to book our complimentary tours, however. We had to wait over thirty minutes to be helped by a Chaza travel agent at the desk, and when he was finally free he said he was closed although we arrived well before the agency was supposed to close according to the information the hotel provided.

The pluses about this hotel is that it's isolated from the rest of the craziness that can come with staying in downtown Cancun and it is very large so there are lots of activities such as miniature golf and free non-moterized water sports. If you want the Caribbean crystal clear water this is not the place for you. John, Wisconsin

4/08 My family and my son's friends families went to Moon Palace on spring break in April, 2008. Moon Palace is beautiful and very big. Our room was on the third floor and a distance to the pools or lobby, but it wasn't that bad because at least you got some exercise! It seems like you eat and drink all day! The rooms and views were very nice. Food was good, especially the Oriental restaurant. The pool was huge, it was hard to find a chair if you weren't there early. A lot of chairs never had people, just a shoe or a book or whatever. The beach was nice, but there was seaweed. We took the free shuttle to Cancun Palace 3 or 4 times and stayed there all day and enjoyed the blue water and big waves there. You could eat and drink there free too. The kids went parasailing from Cancun Palace, that was fun. We also took a taxi van and went to Playa Del Carmen and took the ferry to Cozumel and went to Cozumel Palace and snorkeled there and spent the day. At Moon Palace they had lots to do, including miniature golf, bicycles, game room, basketball court, tennis, rock-climbing wall, etc. The golf course is beautiful. The shows were ok.

I really loved the grounds and the resort overall. The kids (all teenagers) preferred Cancun Palace because of the big waves and pretty water. So if you are looking for a spectacular beach with a pretty blue ocean, don't go here. It's a great resort if you are just a pool person.

The service was excellent. Everything you ask for comes with "It's my pleasure". Also great room service and maid service. Very relaxing and plenty of room to roam. I would definitely go back. CP-Michigan

3/08 I went with my mom, sister, and niece to Moon Palace in March, 2008. We had the most relaxing vacation I have ever had. The room was great and always clean. The service was exceptional. Poolside and beach drink service was really nice! Food was good, but was getting old by the end of the week. We didn't go to any of the ala carte restaurants, but should have. We went into Cancun a couple times on the shuttle, that was a nice extra. The tours they give free are nice, but some are long. The Kitchen Tour is very interesting and worth doing!

The pools were always clean and very nice, a little chilly though. I think they had a lot of rain before we got there, so maybe that's why. Very nice grounds where you could walk a lot, golf course was beautiful! Gift shops are nice with very reasonable prices, cheaper than we found in Cancun. They also have a store where they sell jewelry and the silver is beautiful and great prices.

Overall we had a super vacation and would recommend it to families, couples, and singles of all ages. They are opening a Moon Palace in Punta Cana next year, so I will probably go there next time. But I definitely loved it here. BRR - CO
