REVIEWS 5/08 This is an excellent resort. The food is of high quality, varied from day to day, and served with a smile. The pool is clean and not too crowded and the beach is clean, organized, and comfortable. Would go back any day. Rooms are somewhat plain, but the resort itself is beautiful. Had a great time. Ben, SC ********** 4/08 We stayed at the Riu Tequila from April 11-25. We have travelled to the Dominican before, but this was our first trip to Mexico. The Riu Tequila is a beautiful resort. The food at the buffet was excellent and the staff very courteous and friendly. The only complaint about the restaurants I had was having to line up at 7 a.m. to book your a la cartes for that evening. The resort must find some way to change this. You should be able to book your restaurants the first day for your entire stay. The grounds are very nice and well taken care of and they seem to be planting more shrubs and flowers all the time. The pool area is very nice and the pool bar is a lot of fun. We heard complaints of the smell at the disco, but the 2 evenings we were there we could not smell anything, although if you walked by during the day while they were cleaning with the doors open there was definately a smell. Overall I really enjoyed this hotel, it is clean, the food is good, and the staff are very friendly, it is good value for the money. You have a 5 minute walk to the beach, this did not seem to bother us as the walk is very pleasent. We would reccomend this hotel and would not hesitate to return. TJ, Minn. ********** 4/08 We just returned from a week at the RIU Tequila. This resort offers something for everyone. The staff is what really makes the place. Every staff member we met was helpful, courteous and friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The walk from the hotel to the beach is pleasant and a little exercise never hurt anyone. The shuttle to the beach runs about every 10 minutes and is very convienent. It is an easy 30 minute walk to the downtown area of Playa Del Carmen. Cabs are readily available for 5 USD from the hotel to downtown. Aside from the beach, the pools and facilities at the Tequila were tremendous. The two large pools in the center of the complex are refreshing and relaxing. The Lupita restuarant at the pool serves excellent food and the friendly bartenders at the pool bar make sure everyone is refreshed. The nightly entertainment is very professional and we looked forward to it each evening. I would certainly consider staying at this resort again and recommend the RIU Tequila as a great resort to anyone. EW, Michigan ********** 3/08 I surprised my wife with this all-inclusive vacation the first week in July and everything was wonderful, inclulding the cost of the vacation! The Riu Tequila is an absolutely beautiful resort. The staff was friendly and very gracious. The food was excellent and the bar drinks weren`t bad either. The tropical landscaping was breathtaking and the staff worked constantly to keep the grounds clean. Our room was very clean and large and it included a mini fridge that was stocked with beer, soda, and mineral water. There is even a liquor dispenser in each of the rooms. You will not have a boring moment at this resort, there is daytime and nighttime entertainment, including a disco which plays American dance music. I really can`t say enough about the staff, the customer service was excellent and don`t worry if you can`t speak Spanish because the staff is bilingual. My wife and I visited the other Riu resorts which you are allowed to do and we both decided that the Riu Tequila was by far the best resort, especially if you enjoy fun activities and interacting with people. The Beach is located only 1 mile across the street but there is a shuttle that runs every 5 minutes. You will not be disappointed if you choose to vacation at the Riu Tequila.
