Grand Cayman

Captain Marvin's - Snorkel Tour to Stingray City I would NOT recommend "Captain Marvins Snorkel Tour to Stingray City" since it is now owned by a "mom & pop" shop that really do not have their act together at all! We ended up walking around the Grand Cayman for 2 hours when we should have been on our tour. Other tour operators there had squid to feed the stingrays, we did not. (Not that you needed any type of "bait" to attract these amazing stingrays...they were EVERYWHERE!) It was amazing to experience. When we went back to our meeting point at our assigned time, it was another hour before they rounded up everybody to get them to the boat to start the excursion. Although it did end with a happy ending, I was thinking to myself, "Oh MY!...I sure do hope we're back in time for the ship!" We literally JUST made it! JB 2/08

Captain Marvin's - Snorkel Tour to Stingray City I just returned and had a group of 28 people going on the Snorkel Tour to Stingray City excursion. It was wonderful! We were there when they told us to be there and we left soon after. It was great. We got back just when they said we would be back so had plenty of time for eating, drinking and shopping before getting back on the ship. They said Captain Marvin is the owner and still lives on the island even though he is 92 he still oversees the business. I would highly recommend them. This is the 2nd time I've had a large group with them and it was great both times.

Dunn's River Falls - Ocho Rios Wow! What a fun experience. A group of 8 of us went on this excursion and had a great time. It's an adventure climbing up a waterfall with lots of rocks. The water was chilly, but refreshing! We were staying at a local resort so it was a quick bus ride there. They have vendors and some shops. If you are going, bring your water shoes or buy them at Wal-mart or somewhere like that. You can also rent them for like $5. 3/08

Tropical Dreamer Snorkel & Cruise - Mo Bay - I have been on several snorkeling/booze cruises in Mexico and Florida, but this was by far my favorite. The 3-hour cruise leaves from a pier near beautiful Doctor's Cove Beach. Generally, your hotel will have arranged transportation for you, or you will take a taxi there and have about 30 minutes to look around, while the boat is prepared. This is nice, because Doctor's Cove Beach is the most famous and most gorgeous beach in Mo Bay. Once you board the large catamaran with about 30 other people, you are introduced to the friendly (and really hot!) crew and the bar is immediately opened. While they do have Red Stripe on tap and several types of liquor, the most popular drink is Rum Punch, a fruity concoction of rum and red punch. It's tasty. They have a few other "specialty" juices to mix with liquor as well. Just like at the resorts, if you have your own (larger) cup, you can get a bigger drink. The cruise sails out around the beautiful ocean, past Montego Bay for the first hour, and then stops to let everyone snorkel. While the boat is cruising around, the crew will try to make everyone sit on the rope "net" at the front of the boat. It's a little scary, but awesome! It puts nothing but NET between you and the beautiful ocean. It's an amazing feeling. The snorkeling is magnificent, and you don't even need a life jacket because the salt water will keep you afloat! The water is very clear, and there are many colorful fish. After the snorkeling, the cruise makes it's way to Margaritaville, a huge 3-story bar/restaurant located on the water. At the restaurant, you can relax, listening to Jimmy Buffett and trying one of their out-of-this-world Pina Coladas ($8), buy souvineers in the shop, or if you dare, ride the waterslide from the top floor into the ocean below! Once in the ocean, you can swim your way over to the water-trampolines. It all looked like fun, but the pina coladas were too delicious to do anything else. The eye candy of the boat crew down below was not bad either! After about 30 minutes or so at Margaritaville, everyone boards the boat and heads back to Doctor's Cove Beach. 11/07

Tropical Dreamer - Montego Bay - Although some people may categorize these "booze cruise" trips as a tourist trap, we still enjoy going on them for the snorkeling and the sailing part of it. The Tropical Dreamer is a catamaran trip that starts from Sandals in Montego Bay (pick up at your hotel) and heads over to the Marine Park off the shore near Breezes for a little snorkeling and then over to Margaritaville for some time on the water slide and trampolines or if you haven't had enough to drink, you can also drink/eat at your own cost. Drinks are included while on the boat, rum punch and Red Stripe plus a few other things are available. Ladies get complimentary foot massages, the crew is friendly and aims to please. Our trip had people ranging from spring breakers to their 50s or 60s. 3/08 SL
